Instructions No. 3166
Difficulty: Beginner
Working time: 45 Minutes
Step 1: Preparing the materials
Cut about 4 meters from the cotton cord . This length is sufficient if you want to knot half of the wooden ring only . If you want to knot the ring completely, you should use about 8 meters of ribbon .
Step 2: Take ribbon twice
Double the ribbon by bringing the two ends together. This makes knotting easier and ensures an even structure.
Step 3: Create a spiral knot
Follow the basic instructions for the spiral knot: First pull a loop around the wooden ring and then start knotting the cord around the ring in a spiral. Repeat this process until you have knotted either the desired half or the entire ring. You can find the video for the spiral knot here.
Step 4: Secure the ends
To ensure that the end knots do not open, apply a small amount of handicraft glue to the knots. Carefully press the knots together until the glue has dried. This will keep everything in place.
Step 5: Prepare the suspension
Cut off another piece of ribbon that will be used to hang the ring. Attach a clip to the ribbon. Tie the ribbon around the wooden ring and string a few wooden beads onto the ribbon, to complete the design.
Step 6: Hang up and admire
Now your macramé-knotted wooden ring is ready to be hung up. Choose a beautiful place in your home to display your new work of art and enjoy the admiring glances of your guests.
