Information on battery disposal

In connection with the sale of batteries or the supply of devices containing batteries, we are obliged to draw your attention to the following:

Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste.

You may either return used batteries – which we currently stock or have previously stocked as new batteries – to us at your own expense, or return them free of charge to our dispatch centre (postal address). Alternatively, you can hand the batteries in at your local collection points.

As an end user, you are legally obliged to return used batteries so that they can be recycled or disposed of properly.

Used batteries may contain harmful substances which, if not stored or disposed of properly, could harm the environment or your health. However, batteries also contain important raw materials, such as iron, zinc, manganese and nickel, and can be recycled.

The symbols shown on the batteries have the following meanings:



The symbol of the crossed-out wheelie bin means that the battery must not be disposed of with household waste.

For batteries containing a certain mass of lead, cadmium or mercury, the respective hazardous substances are indicated by the following additions beneath the symbol of the crossed-out rubbish bin:

Pb = Battery contains more than 0.004 per cent by mass of lead
Cd = Battery contains more than 0.002 per cent by mass of cadmium
Hg = Battery containsmore than 0.0005 per cent by mass of mercury
