Rediscover peddigree braiding

Peddigrohr braiding is a very old technique and has fallen over time bit into oblivion. For a few years, the old craft technique with the natural material, braiding cane, but more and more flourishing. The wicker material can be used everywhere for tinkering, whether as a garden torch in the garden, in the kitchen as a bread basket or even as a chair.

Rattan as a sustainable material

Peddigree or rattan is a natural product which is very resistant. Since rattan comes from nature, it is weatherproof and can be used without hesitation, for example, as a garden torch. In which you soak the rattan in lukewarm water, you can easily process the material and thus weave the peddigree without it breaking. Finally, you can use the food-safe peddigree varnish to protect the surface.

Weaving material modern processing

Peddigree has long ceased to be just an old crafting technique, but is nowadays processed more and more modern. So you can decorate the braided material individually with beads or fabrics and modernize it so that it becomes an eye-catcher. In addition, there are the most diverse examples from the book Kreatives aus Peddigrohr how you can weave modern baskets, frames, lamps or torches with the most diverse techniques. Another very nice technique for the weaving material is Pouring. With this technique, you can add color to the bottoms. If you want to use the bottom as a tray you can decorate it with a branding pen. To dye the peddig cane or peddig rails or to achieve a color gradient you can put batik paint in the water.
