Textile crafting with cotton, felt and silk
Cotton, felt and silk are ideal as bases for textile crafting. Each of these fabrics has its own distinctive properties and offers a wide range of crafting possibilities in textile design, whether it be sewing, embroidery or painting. Spring and summer crafting with textiles is particularly great fun when done with children.
Craft Felt
Craft felt from VBS is very easy to work with and is well suited to craft projects and decorations. Felt is very popular in textile crafting in schools, nurseries and other institutions due to its soft texture. You’ll find craft felt sold by the meter and in various thicknesses. We stock craft felt in a thickness of 1.5 mm and textile felt in a thickness of 4.0 mm. The range includes a wide variety of colours, and the felt is made from terylene or polyester.
We also stock a wide range of felt sheets, felt ribbons and felt bags. Crafting with felt is particularly popular with children in schools. Figures, animals, key rings and book covers are especially popular craft projects here. Bags and placemats made from felt are also easy to craft.
Crafting with cotton
You can buy unprinted cotton bags at affordable prices from VBS. This means you can print on and paint your cotton bags yourself, just as you like. For example, we offer cotton bags such as classic cotton carrier bags, cotton pouches and college bags. You can paint, print on or decorate cotton bags using stencils and applications.
The affordable VBS cotton bag is particularly popular. This natural-coloured bag measures 42 x 38 centimetres and has short handles. The carrier bag can be reused time and time again. It’s well made yet unbeatably affordable. At VBS, you’ll also find cotton fabric by the metre.
Silk
VBS silk is lightweight and comes in the popular Pongé 05 silk quality. It’s ideal for almost all painting techniques or for nuno felting. For beginners to silk crafts, we recommend Pongé 08 silk fabrics by the meter. At 32 grams per metre, it is slightly sturdier than Pongé 05. With these high-quality silks, you can create your own beautiful curtains, scarves, shawls or cushions. Why not try painting and designing your next silk scarf yourself? You’ll find the perfect selection here.
