This is how it works:
Priming the shell: step-by-step instructions
Preparing the bowl:
Prime the inside of your rind decoration bowl with light-coloured VBS craft paint. This primer ensures that the colours of the napkins shine more brightly and that the surface is prepared in a protective manner. Allow the paint to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Application of the napkin technique:
Coat the dried inside of the bowl evenly with VBS napkin varnish. This varnish serves as an adhesive and sealant for the napkins.
Remove the top, printed layer of the napkins. Carefully place this layer in the bowl and press down gently so that no air bubbles form.
Coat the napkin again with the napkin varnish to make sure it adheres well. Leave everything to dry.
Finalising the napkin technique:
Once the bowl is completely dry, carefully cut or tear off the excess napkin. Be careful not to tear the napkins and work neatly.
Sealing with cold glaze
Prepare your workstation:
Protect your work area with an old tablecloth or underlay to avoid stains.
Mix the cold glaze:
Prepare the cold glaze. This consists of two components: Resin and hardener, which are mixed in a 1:1 ratio. The cold glaze is a thin, transparent glaze that you can colour as you wish. Use resin tinting colour for this.
Mix the resin and hardener in a mini-cup and stir thoroughly until the components are well mixed.
Applying the cold glaze:
Carefully pour the cold glaze into the bowl. Swirl the bowl to distribute the icing evenly. Make sure that the icing covers all areas of the inside.
Time to dry:
Leave the bowl to dry for about 24 hours. The cold glaze will harden completely during this time and create a shiny, protective surface.
Decorating the bowl:
Final decoration:
Tie a tasteful satin ribbon around the edge of the bowl to give it a personalised finish.
Place a decorative pine pick next to it to round off the overall look.
