1. Mix the Keraflott
Start your project by mixing Keraflott casting compound with water to form a creamy, lump-free mixture. Stir the mixture thoroughly until there are no more lumps. This even consistency is crucial for the perfect result.
2. Pouring and hardening
Carefully pour the finished mixture into your silicone moulds. Tap the mould gently on a firm surface to remove air bubbles and distribute the mixture evenly. Give the moulds 1 to 4 hours to harden, depending on the size of the mould.
3. Remove the moulds
As soon as the castings have hardened, you can remove them from the moulds. Leave them to dry completely in the air to achieve optimum strength. Rough edges? No problem - simply smooth them with sandpaper.
4. Prepare the marbling bath
Before you start marbling, protect your work area with old newspapers. This will prevent annoying paint splashes and water stains on your table.
Use an old container, such as an unused bucket or bowl, that is large enough to dip the mouldings into. Fill it with cold tap water. Remember that colour residue cannot be removed from the container.
Protect your hands from paint splashes with disposable gloves.
4. Marbling
Shake the colours well and add a few drops to the surface of the water. You can now use a bamboo skewer to draw a pattern in the colours. Be careful not to use too many colours.
Dip the pellets into the floating colours and pull them out again immediately. The paint will settle on the surface of the castings and the typical, unique colour patterns will be created. Allow the objects to dry thoroughly.
8. Remove colour residues
To remove paint residue from the surface of the water, simply drag a piece of paper through the water. This creates space for the next pattern, which you can design with new drops of colour.
With a little patience and creativity, you can create spectacular works of art in this way. Here and in our online shop, you will not only find paint but also many moulds for casting and ready-made objects for marbling. Get started today and let your imagination run wild!
