Enchanting Fabric Gingerbread Men Sewing: Your DIY Project for the Advent Season
Are you looking for an enchanting DIY decoration for the Advent season? Then these cute gingerbread men are just what you need! They are easy to sew and perfect for decorating wreaths, Christmas trees, or gifts. With our guide and matching materials from our webshop, you can get started right away. Let's begin!
Step 1: Cut the Fabric
Print the template twice. Cut out both templates and tape them together in the middle.
Transfer the template onto the fabric twice – once for the front and once for the back. Lay the template on the back of the fabric and trace it with a marker. Then cut the fabric with a fabric scissors.
Step 2: Pin the Fabric Pieces
Place the fabric pieces with the pattern side facing inwards together. Use pins to hold the fabric in place and leave a turning opening of about 5 cm open. Don't forget to insert the jute yarn loop as a hanger. Sew by hand or with a sewing machine, but make sure the jute cord is sewn securely.
Step 3: Snip the Seam Allowance
After sewing, snip the curves in the seam allowance to improve the rounding of the gingerbread men. The template shows the correct places for the snips.
Step 4: Turn and Iron
Turn the gingerbread man inside out after the preparations. Iron the fabric smooth before filling it.
Step 5: Fill and Close the Seam
After filling the figure with stuffing, you can close the turning opening invisibly using the ladder stitch.
Step 6: Decorate to Your Liking
Now you can decorate your gingerbread man as you like. If you don't feel like sewing the decorations, you can use fabric glue.
