Discover the magic of homemade table lanterns! Imagine cozy summer evenings where only cozy candlelight is still missing to make the atmosphere perfect. Don't worry, even without professional light sources you can make impressive table lanterns yourself and create a unique atmosphere! With a little creativity and a few materials, you can create beautiful, individual table lanterns. It's easy, fun and an eye-catcher at any party!
Step 1: Cut to size
For the summery table decoration, I choose four fresh colors of clay paper. Cut each sheet in half lengthways - one half will form the base of your lantern. Cut two strips about 1 cm wide from the other half, which will later serve as a support.
Step 2: Design your motif
Use a pencil to draw the outline of your desired motif on the large piece of paper. Whether it's a butterfly, flower design or abstract shapes - there are no limits to your creativity! Tip: Lay several sheets of paper on top of each other if you want to create the same design several times.
Now the fun part begins: apply the prickle needle and work your way along the pencil lines, always making sure to leave some space between the holes. This will prevent the motif from coming out like a perforation.
After pricking, hold the Paper up to the light - your design will look impressive!
Step 3: Assembling the lantern
Join the short sides of the clay paper with handicraft glue so that the ends overlap by about 2 cm. Decide for yourself which side of the sparkling motif should face outwards.
Now you need the thin strips: Fold over one centimeter at each end and stick them crosswise into the bottom opening of your lantern. This will keep the glass for tea lights in place later and your lantern will stay on the table.
Time to present your creative table lanterns at the next barbecue party! This simple technique adapts to any occasion: white lanterns for weddings with matching motifs or colorful designs for birthday parties.
Also ideal as night lights for children's rooms or with printed templates from the internet for even more creative patterns.
