Discover the magic of homemade table lanterns! Imagine cozy summer evenings where only the warm candlelight is missing to make the atmosphere perfect. Don't worry, even without professional lighting, you can create impressive table lanterns yourself and craft a unique ambiance! With a little creativity and a few materials, you can make beautiful, individual table lanterns. It's simple, fun, and a real eye-catcher at any party!
Step 1: Cutting
For summery table décor, I choose four fresh colors of cardstock. Halve each sheet lengthwise – one half will form the base of your lantern. From the other half, cut two strips approximately 1 cm wide to serve as support later.
Step 2: Design Your Motif
Use a pencil to sketch the outline of your desired motif onto the large piece of paper. Whether it's a butterfly, floral design, or abstract shapes – there are no limits to your creativity! Tip: Lay multiple sheets of paper on top of each other if you want to create the same design multiple times.
Now comes the exciting part: Start with the punching needle and work along the pencil lines, ensuring you leave some space between the holes. This prevents the motif from falling out like a perforation.
After punching, hold the paper up to the light – your design will be impressively showcased!
Step 3: Assembling the Lantern
Connect the short sides of the cardstock using craft glue so that the ends overlap by about 2 cm. Decide which side of the punched motif you want to show on the outside.
Now you will need the thin strips: Fold each end about a centimeter up and glue them crosswise into the bottom opening of your lantern. This will securely hold the tealight glass, ensuring your lantern stays put on the table.
