The term "straw crafting" may come to mind when you think of straws, but in Straw stars. this guide we'll show you how to make these pretty cards with floral motifs from coloured and natural straws.
Here's how it's done:
In their natural state the culms are very stiff and break easily. For most handicrafts, they are therefore brought into a flat form, which can then be processed very easilyTo do this, cut the stems lengthwise with small scissors or a Cutter on. Afterwards the stalks are soaked in water for about 30 minutes. This makes them more flexible and they can then be easily ironed without breaking. Coloured straws should be separated by colour. Iron first the inside and then the outside until all the moisture has evaporated.
If you want to obtain large areas, you can fix the flat stalks close together on crepe-Adhesive tape . If the plates become slightly wavy, you can press them between two heavy books. When this is done, draw the desired shape on the back and cut it out with scissors. The crepe-Adhesive tape allows you to cut the straws without tearing at the edges
Finally the different elements are glued with tape-Ribbon and can be painted with Handicraft paint and the cards can be decorated with Lace ribbon . This way you get individual, interesting and not everyday decorative objects with a particularly unusual look.
