Give your favorite fabrics a new shape. With KREUL Textile Stiffener, you can create decorative 3D objects that stand firmly yet look natural. Ideal if you want to turn textiles into home decor items.
This modeling medium is suitable for stiffening fabric, wool, yarn, felt, leather, and paper. It’s water-based, dries quickly, and becomes transparent with a satin-matte finish. You can apply it with a brush or directly with your hands and shape your project while the material is still wet. The 250 ml bottle is perfect for small to medium-sized projects.
Here’s how to bring your creative ideas to life:
Stiffen fabric for bowls, baskets, or draped designs on canvas
ShapeDIY decorations from lace, felt, or crocheted pieces and paint over them once dry
Preparefabric designs by pre-coloring the medium with silk paint
Brush or dip your material thoroughly, shape it on a suitable surface, and let it dry. Afterward, you can paint on details or paint over the object. Get KREUL Textile Stiffener for projects that turn soft materials into real eye-catchers.
Usage Tips:
Suitable for: textiles, silk, uncoated paper, paper, wool, yarn, felt, leather, canvas, cotton, denim
Apply with: hands, fingers, or a brush.
Preparation: Cover your work surface well, wear disposable gloves, and have a container for shaping the material ready. Can be dyed with silk paint before application
Application: Generously coat the material with KREUL Textile Hardener. For a cotton bag (38 x 42 cm), you’ll need about 150 ml. To make shaping easier, drape the fabric over a non-absorbent, smooth container and shape it with your hands (wearing disposable gloves). Apply KREUL Textile Hardener to the inside of the bag as well for better stability.
Drying time: The Textile Stiffener is dry as soon as it appears transparent on the fabric: About 2 to 3 days at room temperature, 10 minutes in a preheated oven at 110 °C, or 10–40 minutes with a hair dryer, depending on the thickness of the application. Once the fabric is dry on the outside, remove the container and let the fabric dry on the inside.
Good to know: Once the object is completely dry, it can be made water- and weather-resistant by applying a clear coat of clear spray varnish or acrylic gloss varnish. To do this, spray on several thin layers.
